08 Jul Theme and speakers of annual Joep Lange Chair & Fellows Symposium announced
The 2025 Joep Lange Chair & Fellows Symposium will take place on 12 November at De Balie in Amsterdam. Hosted by the Amsterdam Institute for Global Health and Development and Joep Lange Institute, this annual event features leading practitioners and thinkers reflecting on a theme at various intersections of global health and development.
Thought-provoking theme
The theme for 2025 is “Back to the Future: Systems, Societies, Solutions”. With this topic, the scientific committee wishes to explore how the global health field might reclaim and reimagine progress when many hard-won gains risk being lost.
The conversation will be framed across three interconnected dimensions:
- Systems: governance, regulation, and financing for health
- Societies: ethics, equity, and citizen agency
- Solutions: technologies and scientific breakthroughs
Together, these lenses will help practitioners ask: How can the world find its way back to a sustainable and just future for global health?
Illustrious speakers
Four speakers will share their reflections on the 2025 theme. They are:
- Dr Moses Mulumba: Director and Associate Professor (Ahaki Institute)
- Dr Maryam Shahmanesh: NIHR Global Research Professor (University College London) & Director of Implementation Science (Africa Health Research Institute)
- Dr Brooke Nichols: Associate Professor of Global Health (Boston University School of Public Health)
- Dr Rogier Sanders: Professor of Virology (Amsterdam UMC)
The titles of our speakers’ talks will be announced soon. In the meantime, do register to attend the event (free of charge).
