Rena Janamnuaysook is pursuing her PhD at the University of Amsterdam, under the supervision of Peter Reiss and Maarten Schim van der Loeff. Her doctoral research focuses on transgender health and integrated HIV prevention and care models in Southeast Asia.

Rena is program manager for implementation science at the Institute of HIV Research and Innovation (IHRI) in Bangkok, Thailand. She co-established Tangerine Clinic, Asia’s first transgender-led, integrated gender-affirming and sexual health clinic, which serves as a platform for service delivery, research, and health systems innovation. Her work examines community-led HIV prevention, long-acting HIV technologies, person-centred care, and stigma reduction in healthcare settings.

She serves on multiple WHO guidelines development groups, including those on long-acting injectable cabotegravir for HIV prevention and the health of trans and gender-diverse people. Her research has been published in leading journals, including the Journal of the International AIDS Society, AIDS and Behavior, and Clinical Infectious Diseases.
